Saint Anne’s Hospital Receives Program Reaccreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine

Saint Anne’s Hospital’s Center for Sleep Medicine in Dartmouth, Massachusetts recently received program reaccreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Having met all AASM Standards for Accreditation – the gold standard for patient care in the sleep field – Saint Anne’s is among the best sleep centers in Massachusetts for diagnosing and treating a complete range of sleeping disorders.

“Sleep disorders affect millions of people every year, and we maintain the highest standards to help diagnose and treat these conditions,” said Robert W. Conroy, DO, medical director of Saint Anne’s Hospital’s Center for Sleep Medicine. “We strive to provide an environment of care that is comfortable for our patients and enables our staff to conduct an effective sleep study resulting in a complete diagnosis that can only be provided in a properly equipped lab setting. Kudos to our staff for helping us to achieve this important reaccreditation!”

“The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates Steward Health Care’s Saint Anne’s Hospital on meeting the high standards required to earn reaccreditation as a sleep disorders center,” said Dr. Jennifer Martin, AASM president. “Saint Anne’s is an important resource for the local community and will provide the highest quality care for people who have sleep disorders. Sleep is essential to health, and the effective treatment of sleep disorders can be life-changing.”

To receive and maintain accreditation for a five-year period, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. These standards address core areas such as personnel, facility and equipment, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care, and quality assurance. Additionally, the sleep center’s goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine accredited a sleep disorders center for the first time in 1977. Today, there are more than 2,600 AASM-accredited sleep centers across the country.

Saint Anne’s Hospital's Center for Sleep Medicine is located at 535 Faunce Corner Road.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is a professional medical society for clinicians, researchers, and other health care providers in the field of sleep medicine. As the national accrediting body for sleep disorders centers, the AASM improves sleep health and promotes high quality, patient-centered care through advocacy, education, strategic research, and practice standards.
