Saint Anne’s Hospital, a Steward family hospital, has been awarded an ‘A’ for achieving the highest national standards in patient safety from The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grades. The designation recognizes Saint Anne’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care.

Saint Anne’s Hospital is one of only 27 hospitals in the United States to be awarded an “A” grade for every grading cycle since 2012.

We’ve built an environment aimed at making everyone feel supported in their work, and staff hold each other accountable for delivering safe patient care.”

“Our commitment to each other and our patients has been particularly evident during the pandemic,” said Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer Carole Billington, BSN, RN, NEA-BC. “With the environment of trust and collaboration we have established, staff relied on each other to meet new patient safety challenges brought on by the pandemic.”

The Safety Grade assigns letter grades of “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” and “F” to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections, and other harms. Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,700 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Leapfrog Group’s grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.
