Saint Anne’s Hospital Medical Staff announces $3,000 scholarships for health care students

Annual scholarship awards to honor longtime physicians associated with Saint Anne’s Hospital.

Fall River, Mass. – The Saint Anne’s Hospital Medical Staff invites applications for the following two $3,000 scholarships for students pursuing education in health care in the 2016-17 academic year.  Both honor distinguished physicians associated with Saint Anne’s Hospital:

For members of the Saint Anne’s Hospital family: The Yong W. Rhee, MD, Scholarship Award.  This year’s scholarship for members of the Saint Anne’s Hospital community is named for Dr. Rhee, who served the hospital for 41 years, including 38 years as chief of pathology, before retiring last fall.

To be eligible for this $3,000 award, the scholarship candidate must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a member of the greater Saint Anne’s Hospital family; i.e., employee, family member of employee, or medical staff family member.

  2. Entering or pursuing a degree in nursing, allied health or other health care profession at an accredited college, university, technical school, etc.

  3. A graduating high school senior or currently enrolled student.

  4. Completion of the 2016 Yong W. Rhee, MD, Scholarship application.

  5. Able to use the award during the 2016-2017 academic year.

For students in the community (those not associated with Saint Anne’s Hospital): The Richard E. Perkins, MD, Scholarship Award.  Also a longtime member of the hospital’s medical staff, Dr. Perkins is a board-certified specialist in internal medicine and one of the founding PrimaCARE physicians.

To be eligible for this $3,000 award, the scholarship candidate must meet the following criteria:

  1. A resident of the Greater Fall River area.  This includes Assonet, Berkley, Dighton, Fall River, Freetown, Rehoboth, Swansea, Somerset, or Westport, Massachusetts, as well as Tiverton and Little Compton, RI.

  2. Entering or pursuing a degree in nursing, allied health or other health care profession at an accredited college, university, technical school, etc.

  3. A graduating high school senior or currently enrolled student.

  4. Completion of the 2016 Richard E. Perkins, MD, Scholarship application.

  5. Able to use the award during the 2016-2017 academic year.
