This two-day program is designed for adults age 18+ who are interested in providing companionship and support to patients and families served by Steward Hospice.
Training includes the philosophy of hospice care, a comprehensive overview of services offered by hospice, and discussions about the physical, emotional, social and spiritual issues that people may encounter at the end of life. A special emphasis is placed on effective communication and listening skills.
Volunteers with day, evening, or weekend availability, as well as Portuguese-speaking adults and veterans of the U.S. Armed Services, are welcome to apply.
Trainings are provided monthly, and there is no charge. Inquiries are welcome.
