Saint Anne’s Hospital Medical Staff announces availability of health care scholarships

Fall River, MA – The Medical Staff of Saint Anne’s Hospital invites applications for two $3,000 scholarships for area students pursuing education in health and medicine in the 2019-2020 academic year. In addition, the Massachusetts-Rhode Island Independent Physician Association (IPA) is offering a scholarship for pre-med students, medical students, nursing students, or others who are entering or pursuing a degree in allied health or other health care profession. Each honors a distinguished physician who was long associated with Saint Anne’s Hospital.

This year’s awards include:

  • The Carmela Sofia, MD, Scholarship for students in the community who are entering or pursuing a degree in nursing, allied health or other health care profession at an accredited college, university, technical school, etc.
  • The John Arcuri, MD, Scholarship for students who are members of the greater Saint Anne’s Hospital family (employee, family member of employee, medical staff family member), and entering or pursuing a degree in nursing, allied health or other health care profession at an accredited college, university, technical school, etc.

In addition, the Massachusetts-Rhode Island Independent Physician Association (IPA) is offering the Malcolm W. MacDonald, M.D., Memorial Scholarship Award for pre-med students, medical students, nursing students, or others who are entering or pursuing a degree in allied health or other health care profession.
