A Decade of Mako™ Robotic-Assisted Surgery.  In 2011, Saint Anne's was the first hospital in Massachusetts to offer innovative, Mako™ Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery for joint replacement. Our orthopedic surgeons have performed more than 1,600 Mako procedures, including total knee replacement, partial knee resurfacing, and total hip replacement. We are the first and most experienced provider on the South Coast to offer Mako for all three joint replacement procedures.

First hospital in New England to offer the Persona IQ® “Smart Knee” implant for total knee replacement. Introduced in 2022, the Smart Knee includes a sensor that enhances a patient’s recovery by giving the surgeon and patient valuable information about activity level and quality of movement after surgery.
