Fall River, MA – Saint Anne’s Hospital has announced that its new patient pavilion is now open to patients.
The new 60,000-square-foot building includes two new patient care units, each offering 40 private patient care rooms that range in size from 220 to 280 square feet. One unit houses the hospital’s Sacred Heart telemetry unit, which cares for patients requiring cardiac monitoring. The second unit is the St. Mary medical-surgical unit that cares for patients with a variety of illnesses and conditions.
Primary access to the pavilion, as well as other inpatient and outpatient care, such as laboratory services, X-ray and other diagnostic tests, continues to be via the hospital’s main entrance at the corner of Middle and South Main streets. Through this entrance, visitors may use free valet parking and get personal assistance, such as directions, at the patient information desk in the main lobby.
Self-service directions also are available by using the hospital’s new touch-screen directories that produce written directions in a choice of English, Portuguese or Spanish. These touch-screen directories are available in the main lobby, as well as in the entrance to the pavilion.
Free valet parking is available at the main entrance, Monday through Friday. As part of the pavilion project, expanded patient and visitor parking also is now available in the hospital’s visitor lot on South Main Street.
The opening of the pavilion has allowed conversion of semi-private rooms in most areas of the hospital to private rooms. The total number of licensed hospital beds remains at 160 beds. These include adult medical-surgical, pediatrics and geriatric psychiatry. Ground was broken for the $30 million facility on August 9, 2012. It was completed within one year, on time and on budget.
