One in five older adults in the United States will experience a psychiatric disorder.* This may be due to progressive physical decline, medical illness, neurological deficits or psychosocial stressors.
The combination of medical and psychiatric conditions can make the evaluation, care and treatment of older individuals challenging. However, most emotional illness in older adults can be treated in the right environment by professionals who understand the physical and psychological factors that affect elders.
The Geriatric Psychiatry Program of Saint Anne’s Hospital was created to address the special needs of older adults. Our program provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary, professional inpatient treatment in a safe and comfortable environment.
