Our Smoke- and Tobacco-Free Policy
Effective July 1, 2011
Saint Anne’s Hospital is committed to maintaining an environment
that minimizes health risks and supports health and wellness.
In keeping with this commitment, Saint Anne’s Hospital’s smoke-
and tobacco-free policy eliminates all smoking and the use of all
tobacco products inside and outside buildings on its main campus and all
satellite sites and locations.
This policy applies to all persons, including employees, medical
staff, patients, visitors, volunteers, students, vendors and other

Saint Anne’s Hospital and all of our offsite facilities are
smoke- and tobacco-free environments. This policy applies to all
hospital-owned and -leased premises. This includes all
buildings, grounds, parking lots and vehicles parked on the
properties. Employees are also prohibited from using tobacco
products on the adjacent properties of our sites at any time
during their work shifts. This would include perimeter streets
and sidewalks. Tobacco use in any Saint Anne’s Hospital vehicle
is strictly prohibited at any time. This will include the
buildings, grounds, parking lots, entranceways and any vehicles
on the properties.
There is no smoking allowed for employees who are on paid time
with Saint Anne’s Hospital. Smoking by employees is
prohibited at any Saint Anne’s Hospital-sponsored event, on or
off Saint Anne’s premises, and at any event at which a Saint
Anne’s Hospital employee is representing our organization.
Saint Anne’s Hospital expects all employees to be respectful of
our neighbors by not smoking on the grounds adjacent to our
The use of tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars,
chewing tobacco, pipes, electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes),
etc., is prohibited in or on all Saint Anne’s Hospital’s owned
or leased properties.
Signs will be posted at strategic locations around Saint Anne’s
Hospitals facilities to communicate this policy to staff,
visitors and patients. In addition, patients and visitors
will be informed of the tobacco policy upon arrival or admission
when and where appropriate through distribution and explanation
of the policy.
Physicians with privileges at Saint Anne’s Hospital may not
write orders for a patient to use tobacco products on Saint
Anne's Hospital property.
Saint Anne’s Hospital employees are authorized to enforce and
reinforce this policy with courtesy and diplomacy to all persons
observed using tobacco products on any Saint Anne's Hospital
